Sandy Kastel, one of Las Vegas’s favorite hometown performers, a proud “adopted daughter” of the Hoosier State and a familiar face in Nashville songwriting circles, knows all about the impact of life choices.
A singer and Miss Nevada title-holder in the Miss America Pageant, her life has been a series of detours, taking her on an incredible journey leading up to a career as an artist, clothing designer, singer, songwriter, publisher, producer, and playwright.
In 2007, Sandy released two albums of pop and jazz standards, Only In Las Vegas: The Event and This Time Around. The acclaim she received for these efforts convinced her it was time to show how strong her country roots are by tapping into them.
Drawing on her rich heritage and years in the spotlight, Kastel (rhymes with pastel) has just released her first country album and penned six of the album’s 12 songs, including the title cut and first single, Indiana Rain.
To Kastel’s other achievements, we can add that of motivational speaker and author. She contributed to Life Choices: Navigating Difficult Paths, a collection of inspirational stories published earlier this year.
Sandy has written articles for local magazines, promotional papers and online publications, and currently has two books scheduled for 2011.
In the first of these books, Sandy reveals to the reader the information she has been sharing with women for years, drawing from her own life journey, experiences and practices and translating them into an easy to digest, simple to follow "how to" book and journal, exploring her insights and examining the tools available to us When Life Takes a Detour.
In Miss America: What It Takes to Win the Crown, Sandy takes the readers on the road to Miss America, introducing them to the world of pageants, the dreams, the benefits, the reality, and the necessary tools to win the Crown.
