The Special Event, Which Will Include A Pre-Show
Cocktail Party With A Silent Auction, Is On The Eve Of
Vegas’ Highly Anticipated NHRA Drag Race Weekend
Featuring Five Time World Champion Racer David Rampy
Happily responding to overwhelming demand from her fans, beloved Las Vegas singer and entertainer Sandy Kastel makes her first hometown appearance since the recent release of her standards-studded debut album This Time Around on Wednesday, October 24 at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino.
The beautifully costumed and choreographed musical spectacular, officially named “This Time Around, ‘A Tribute To Las Vegas’ Benefiting Children’s Miracle Network,” will include the singer’s performances of classic songs that truly define the city. Among these are “Fever,” “Beyond The Sea,” “All Of Me,” “Over The Rainbow” and “Danke Schoen.” Earlier this year, Kastel’s rendition of the Bobby Darin classic “Beyond The Sea” reached #14 on FMQB’s AC40 chart.
Kastel, the former Miss Nevada, who has been described as a modern day Ann Margret with comparisons ranging from Judy Garland to Barbra Striesand enjoys the elements of production shows to entertain her audiences. Kastel will be accompanied by a 14-piece big band conducted by Bob Rozario and joined by dancers choreographed by Angelo Moio. Rozario has arranged and conducted for Bobby Darin, Vic Damone, Peggy Lee and Tony Orlando. Moio, one of only a few choreographers sanctioned by Michael Bennett’s estate to set the original choreography for “A Chorus Line” has worked as a dancer and line captain for the Siegfried and Roy Show, served as dance captain and assistant choreographer for “Legends in Concert” and danced with Juliet Prowse and Ann-Margret.
The singer’s 8 p.m. performance is the centerpiece of an exciting evening that will raise money for Children’s Miracle Network, the alliance of premier hospitals for children. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be earmarked for the network, as will all of the proceeds from the pre-show silent auction, which begins at 7:30 p.m. as part of a special cocktail reception. Items up for auction will include jewelry, artwork and sports memorabilia.
The Wednesday night event is on the eve of Las Vegas’ highly anticipated NHRA Championship Drag Racing Event, which begins on Thursday, October 25 at the Summerlin Expressway and continues through Sunday, October 28. Kastel and her label, Silk & Satin Records, are proud sponsors of five-time NHRA drag race champion David Rampy, who may appear as a special auctioneer during the intermission of Kastel’s show.
Rampy’s five wins this year have upped his total to 68, making him among the top ten “winningest” drag racers in the world.
Kastel, who debuted the material from This Time Around on Labor Day Weekend at the Franklin Jazz Festival in Franklin, Tennessee, can’t wait to entertain the folks back home in Las Vegas and do it for a cause that has been dear to her heart for a long time. “I’m looking forward to presenting this ‘Tribute to Las Vegas’ in time to kick off the NHRA race here in Las Vegas with David Rampy, who helps us raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network every time he drives down the track. It’s great to be able to tie it all together for a great cause.”
