Suncoast Performance w/Pete Barbutti

The Special Charity Event For Children’s Miracle Network
Which Will Include A Silent Auction
Is On The Eve Of  Vegas’ Highly Anticipated
NHRA Drag Race Weekend Featuring
Five Time World Champion Racer David Rampy
Happily responding to overwhelming demand from her fans, beloved Las Vegas singer and entertainer Sandy Kastel makes her first hometown appearance since the recent release of her standards-studded debut album This Time Around on Wednesday, October 24 at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino.
The beautifully costumed and choreographed musical spectacular, officially named “A TRIBUTE TO LAS VEGAS featuring recording artist SANDY KASTEL and special guest star PETE BARBUTTI” will include the singer's performances of classic songs that truly define the city. Among these are “Fever,” “Beyond The Sea,” “All Of Me,” “Over The Rainbow” and “Danke Schoen.” Earlier this year, Kastel’s rendition of the Bobby Darin classic “Beyond The Sea” reached #14 on FMQB’s AC40 chart.
Kastel, a former Miss Nevada, will be performing with a 14-piece big band conducted by Bobby Rozario, famed for his work with Darin, Peggy Lee, Tony Orlando and Vic Damone, and will feature dancers choreographed by Angelo Moio, onetime dancer with Ann Margret and Juliet Prowse and one of the few choreographers sanctioned by Michael Bennett’s estate to set the original choreography for “A Chorus Line”
Joining Kastel for this very special event will be the legendary comedian Pete Barbutti, who is well known for his numerous appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in the 70’s and 80s and opening for such legendary stars as Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland. Among his better-known routines “Cordeen School,” about an accordion teacher who sells a lot of accordions, but whose students never seem to learn much, and a number of piano-based gags such as “tuning the piano stool,” and using the business end of a plumber’s helper, stuck to the side of the piano, as a cigar holder.
Kastel’s 8 p.m. performance is the centerpiece of an exciting evening that will raise money for Children’s Miracle Network, the alliance of premier hospitals for children. Proceeds from the pre-show silent auction will be earmarked for the network, which begins at 7:30 p.m. The items up for auction will include jewelry, artwork, sports memorabilia, dinners for 2 at local restaurants plus much more.
On the morning of the day of her show, Kastel and Rampy will be making a special visit to St. Rose Dominican Hospital to bring the spirit of the show and the races to the children who are receiving much needed treatment due to the endeavors of Children's Miracle Network.
The Wednesday night event is on the eve of Las Vegas’ highly anticipated NHRA Championship Drag Racing Event, which begins on Thursday, October 25 at the The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and continues through Sunday, October 28. Kastel and her label, Silk & Satin Records, are proud sponsors of five-time NHRA drag race champion David Rampy, who may appear as a special auctioneer during the intermission of Kastel’s show. Rampy’s five wins this year have upped his total to 67, making him among the top ten “winningest” drag racers in the world.
Kastel, who debuted the material from This Time Around on Labor Day Weekend at the Franklin Jazz Festival in Franklin, Tennessee, can’t wait to entertain the folks back home in Las Vegas and do it for a cause that has been dear to her heart for a long time. “I’m looking forward to performing songs for the audience that pay tribute to these Legends", she says. "It’s great to tie everything together that I’ve been working on these past two years.  This show is another way to celebrate the release of my cd, visit the children in the hospitals, raise money for a great charity and enjoy a weekend of great racing.”
