Attendees Representing This Year’s Winners Included Dakota Fanning, Shirley Jones, Tiny Lister, John Newton, Olivia Hussey, Jeff Hephner and Luke Goss; The Emcees Were Leanza Cornett, Mark Steines and John Schneider Las Vegas’s own Silk & Satin recording artist Sandy Kastel had the honor of being asked to be a presenter at the 2007 CAMIE Awards (www.camieawards.org), which was held Saturday, May 12th at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre located in the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Plaza in North Hollywood. The emcees for the event were Leanza Cornett, Mark Steines and John Schneider. The CAMIE Award is presented to entertaining and uplifting theatrical motion pictures and made-for-TV films that provide positive role models for building character, overcoming adversity and strengthening families, Kastel was paired with John Schneider (Smallville, Touched By An Angel) to present a CAMIE for "The Christmas Card," a Hallmark channel film starring John Newton, Alice Evans and Ed Asner. Attendees among the actors and actresses in lead and supporting roles in these films included Dakota Fanning (Charlotte’s Web); Shirley Jones (Hidden Places); John Newton (The Christmas Card); Olivia Hussey (Mother Teresa); Jeff Hephner (The Water Is Wide); Luke Goss (One Night With The King); J.R. Villarreal (Akeelah and the Bee); Sean Michael Afable (Akeelah and the Bee); and Tiny Lister (One Night With The King). In addition, Marty Ingels presented an award with his wife, Shirley Jones (The Partridge Family) and Academy award winner Jon Voight was in attendance. Kastel is currently making waves across the country and cyberspace with her smoky rendition of “Beyond The Sea” which has been lighting up the Top 40 Adult Contemporary Chart. Jumping to #18, “Beyond The Sea” is the first single from Sandy’s debut album This Time Around set to be released nationwide this month.
